Data from Google MapsFirst time visiting and honestly a great experience. The setup is nice, you can sit upstairs overlooking the water or head down closer to the beach for a more laid-back vibe. Both options are great depending on the weather and mood. The staff were friendly and genuinely helpful. One of the girls even helped me find a better spot when the wind picked up, which was good. Food-wise, I kept it simple with calamari and prawns, but it absolutely hit the spot. The prawns were properly fresh, easily some of the freshest I’ve had in a long time. Sometimes simple food done well is all you need. Overall, really relaxed, calm atmosphere with great views. Easy place to sit back, have a drink and some food, and unwind. Would definitely come back.
Staff were super sweet , shuttle bus to and from is a great touch! The food was tasty and came very fast. Really nicely decorated- wish we were staying an extra night to go again!
“Northerlies” is obviously north of Airlie Beach. A little oasis at the end of a hill climb and a rather windy road. You will need a car to get here and they also have a shuttle bus. Memories of Kyoto as you walk through the bamboo tunnel to the front door of the establishment . We were greeted by Hayden. Looked so young but obviously wasn’t. He gave us the appropriate information and a very warm welcome. An asset to the establishment. We set out on the deck, although we had to retreat when a rain squall came. I ordered calamari with Nam Jam sauce. My partner had the salmon linguine special. Both were beautifully prepared . My Aperol spritz was balanced and not bitter. You do have to order your food at a counter and go to the bar for your drinks. If you reserve a table, the food is brought to you when it is ready. The building itself is huge and an amazing construction when you look up at the wooden ceiling . There is also an outside area leading down to the water with trestle tables and umbrellas . Lots of room for kids to run around outside and not disturb diners inside. Ha. This place isn’t fine dining but for a type of tavern venue , the food is of a high standard. We enjoyed our visit overlooking the Coral Sea.
One of Airlie Beaches great places. Out if town a bit, across the bay. But an easy drive. They also run a courtesy bus. Spectacular location. Beautiful. Right in the beach. Lovely menu. Plenty of drink options. Perfect for a lazy lunch like we had. I imagine it would be awesome of night.
